The Electrafold gymnasium divider is raised by lifting cables threaded through #5 spur grommets spaced no less than 18" (455mm) apart vertically. The cables are terminated at the lower pipe and are concealed in pockets. In the raised position the folds of the curtain hang alternately on each side of the bottom pipe in an accordion style. These curtains are supplied in solid vinyl or with alternative materials for the top portion (see option at the bottom of this page).

The system includes a thermally protected C flange reversing electric motor with a 60:1 double-output worm gear transmission sized and selected to match the curtains needs. A 1.9" (48mm) diameter steel drive shaft is attached with flexible couplings to each output shaft of the gear box. The drive shaft is supported by flange-mounted ball-bearings at 10 feet (3056mm) maximum spacing. A limit switch is connected directly on the drive shaft eliminating the need for belts and chain drives.

The controls are directly accessible and contained in a supplied all steel enclosure. The electrical supply can be either 110 or 220 volt 20amp single phase and must be made available within 3 feet of the winch unless otherwise specified. A suitably located key switch box containing a 3 wire connected from the control box will need to be supplied by others. A key-operated 3 position-spring-loaded switch with suitable time delay is supplied for the control of the curtain operation.

The lifting cables are 1/8" (3.175mm) diameter 7 x 19 galvanized aircraft cable. Take-up reels are installed directly above the grommet lines. The top pocket of the curtain contains a 1.6" (40mm) diameter tube suspended by adjusting chains from the underside of the drive shaft support bearings. The bottom lifting pipe is also 1.6" (40mm) diameter tubing. All clamps and fasteners for the attachment of the winch and bearings to the underside of the beams or joists are also supplied and are all Grade 5 steel.

The drive shaft and all hardware is painted with gray primer.

The curtain is fabricated with 18 oz. (0.61 kg/m²) or 25 oz. (0.85 kg/m²) fire and smoke rated vinyl-coated polyester with similar appearance and embossed on both sides. Curtains can be supplied in solid vinyl or with the bottom 10 feet (3056mm) in solid vinyl with an alternative material for the top portion (see option at the bottom of this page). The top and bottom hems have end flaps to contain the support pipes. The curtain sides have double sewn hems.

The curtain has either vertical or horizontal welded seams overlapping by 1-1/8" (28.6mm) spaced at 5 feet (1528mm) intervals. The sides are hemmed over 2" (50mm) and quadruple sewn to provide a clean durable edge. The bottom of the curtain has a pocket of 8" (203mm) and double sewn with concealing pockets.

Options

Sport net

The lower 10 feet (3056mm) of the curtain is 18oz (0.61 kg/m²) or 25oz (0.85 kg/m²) of vinyl. The upper portion contains 1-1/4" square netting, coated to match the base color of the curtain. The curtain allows light and ventilation systems to function normally and does not break down from sport activities and continual use. All vinyl material on the top portion of the curtain is doubled to conceal the edges of the net and double sewn except on the to and transitional center bands which are quadruple sewn.

Achery

The lower 10 feet (3056mm) of the curtain is 18oz (0.61 kg/m²) or 25oz (0.85 kg/m²) of vinyl. The upper portion contains 3/16" heavy-duty natural color polyester archery netting. This net is extremely strong and is heat set for durability.

Note: Closeness of mesh construction reduces light transmission.

Fleximesh

The lower 10 feet (3056mm) of the curtain is 18oz (0.61 kg/m²) or 25oz (0.85 kg/m²) of vinyl. The upper portion is vinyl coated polyester mesh weighing 7oz (0.24 kg/m²) and is white in color. The mesh is treated for fire resistance and UV degradation.
